Eenie Meanie Miney Moooo......

I have been going through the years pictures...trying to decide which picture i should choose to be the "picture of the year". Without a doubt, when i came across this one i knew it was it!! I changed it to sepia, which by the way i just love!! This is my girl Riley aka the Colorado chicken girl!!She turned ten this year and is growing up so fast i can hardly believe it...Here she is with her favorite chicken, Lilly.

To be nice to Colorado! Oh sure i complain about it all the time but this time of the year snow on the mountains is just soooo beautiful. Its a reminder of all that is good in the world...Now ask me in February and i probably wont feel the same way...but...as of today i am loving the Rocky Mountains. Hope you enjoy the pics!

I Rescued a Human Today~ a story for all you dog lovers!

I rescued a human today.Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved.At least I could save one. I rescued a human today.

The First Snowfall! BRRRRRRR!!!

What happened to Fall? Well, I am not quite sure cuz ole man winter is knockin on our door here in Colorado!! Today the white stuff started flying...i tried to squeeze my eyes shut and envision the sun and green grass but when I opened one eye catiously all i saw was white. Dang.

Meet Clancy. He is the 10 month old love of my life. Everyday for Clancy is a grand adventure. No, it doesnt seem like he minds at all. There is nothing like the love of a wet and smelly Labrador....

Here is Daisy...she looks a little less happy than her tail waggin yella brother. She is actually trying to hide from the snow....

Gracie, my new filly has never seen snow. She doesnt look too thrilled. I understand. Completely.

Next comes Ella. Notice her expression. It is one of anxiety. She is cold. She is miserable. She cant understand why i am standing out in the snow taking her picture. She is barking at me. Probably curse words....
Alas we come to "THE cat" who all this time as been inside by the fire. Just look at the expression on his smug little face. I'd swear he was laughing at me....

My First Craft Show is Saturday! YIKES!!!

Oh boy i am participating in my first craft show this Saturday! I am soooo nervous! What if i dont have enough stuff? What if no one likes it ???I am a fairly anal perfectionist so i have been playing with display ideas all morning!!! Please ignore the boxes and such crammed in my paint room~they do no lend to the atmospere too well i know!!! Heres a sneak at a few items the ole Prairie House will have to offer!!
